Installation

Step 1. Excavation

  • Dig a pit to the required depth to accommodate both the cattle grid and the sub-base material.

  • Ensure adequate drainage is considered for the pit if necessary. This can be a gully pot in the base of the grid leading to a near by ditch or soak away

  • Compact the sub-base material to provide a solid, stable foundation for the grid.

Step 2. Grid Placement

  • Carefully lower the base sections of the cattle grid into the prepared pit

  • Assemble the base sections within the pit and ensure they are level, making adjustments as needed

  • Once the base is level, lower the top bar sections into place and securely bolt them down to the base to complete the grid assembly.

Step 3. Backfilling

  • Backfill the pit around all four edges of the grid, securing it in place with appropriate material such as gravel or hardcore

  • Compact the backfill material to prevent any settling over time.

  • Optionally, pour concrete around the grid’s perimeter to prevent the surrounding road surface from sinking, especially at the leading edges, forming a ramp to the grid.

  • If your grid includes removable side rails, insert them into the provided sockets on the base.

  • Conduct a final check for levelness and overall stability of the grid

Step 5. Optional Features

  • Install any additional features as required, such as stock-proof side rails, gates, or pedestrian grating.

  • Follow any specific installation instructions provided for these optional components.
